Discover African Canadian Authors

Welcome to African Canadian Authors, a creative platform dedicated to bringing powerful, inspiring, and diverse stories to readers of all backgrounds. Rooted in culture and enriched by global experiences, we highlight books that reflect identity, imagination, history, and everyday life. We're glad you're here to be a part of our journey.

Our vision: nurturing young readers and community

We started African Canadian Authors with a vision to create meaningful literary experiences, especially for young readers. Imagine a “Young Readers Book Club Celebration,” designed specifically for children in the Aichub reading community. Authors can join virtual or in-person sessions to discuss their books directly with young readers, answer questions, and encourage a lifelong love of reading. Activities like reading challenges, creative art responses, and group discussions help children connect deeply with stories. The event concludes with recognition awards for active participants, fostering confidence, community, and a lifelong passion for literature.

Core beliefs: celebrating heritage and creativity

African Canadian Authors is guided by the belief that authors' voices should be celebrated through vibrant literary events that bring stories to life and connect communities. Our "Voices of Heritage Book Festival" hosts live readings, panel discussions, and storytelling sessions that highlight culture, identity, and creativity. Families and students can attend interactive workshops where authors explain their writing journeys, demonstrate how ideas become published books, and guide participants in creating their own short stories. The event also includes book signings, cultural performances, and a showcase of new and featured titles, creating an inspiring and welcoming environment for readers of all ages.

Connecting communities through stories

We hope to connect with everyone through African Canadian Authors, especially parents, book enthusiasts, authors, schools, libraries, government agencies, social services, and every community at large. Our goal is to celebrate storytelling that connects people across cultures while giving African Canadian writers a space to be seen, heard, and appreciated. Join us in building a vibrant literary community in Brampton, Ontario, and beyond.

"African Canadian Authors has created a vital platform for stories that truly resonate. Their commitment to diversity and community is inspiring."
